Hi Sir Rickman

We appreciate the work you have put into the over the years and we think it is about time the community got to know more about you.

1. How did it all begin and what inspired you to become a fully-fledged DJ?

I started playing music when I was at the age of 13/14 .The constant listening of Stone Love, Black Chiney, Renegade sounds and Dj Tarrus on Hits Fm St Vincent inspired me to become a fully-fledged Dj .

2. Where did your DJ name come from?

My Dj name came from a close friend and neighbour growing up in St Lucia .

3. What was the first record you ever bought?

My first record ever bought was by Bounty Killa ”Next Millenium”.

4. What kind of equipment do you work with?

I use Serato Itch and Scratch Live with Pioneer decks

5. Vinyl, CD or MP3?

I now work with MP3.

6. What sets you apart from other DJs?

Apart from other Djs i can say I put my heart and soul into it all. I love to see people having fun and enjoying the vibe. I don’t just come out to play or get paid, I also come out to have fun and most times I will get on the dance floor.

I would describe my style of playing as Versatile ”I play for the crowd” .

8. What are your thoughts on the soca scene at the moment and what would you like to see improve?

The Soca Scene is spreading and that is a great thing. In order for it to improve we should help one another, support each other, build each other, especially our artists. Sometimes we cannot make it to every event due to circumstances but support isn’t just attending the event.

9. What advice would you give to up and coming DJs hoping to break it out on the UK scene?

My advice to up and coming Djs hoping to break it out on the UK scene is always be yourself. Respect and discipline goes hand in hand if you haven’t got that no one will take you serious or support you.

10. What is your favourite soca tune of all time?

My favourite Soca tune of all time is Nani Wine by Crazy .

11. Who is your musical soca icon?

My favourite musical Icon is Machel Montano.

12. Favourite 2013 soca lyric and why?

My Favourite 2013 lyrics is ”Nutting ain’t wrong with a stranger whining on a stranger”. These lyrics remind me of Carnival,everyone having fun and jamming with each other with no fussing or fighting. It reminds me of the effect soca music has on people when they come together for Carnival.

13. Where do you spin usually and where can music lovers find you?

  1. I served 7 years in the British Militaty as a Soldier.
