Release D Riddim: Red Eye Christmas Jam Review

Release D Riddim: Red Eye Christmas Jam Review

What an incredible nite!

We have had the warm up fetes which have kept our reveller souls warm, the parang limes that have injected the festive spirit into us, the thank you parties that have given us an excuse to relive NHC, the unavoidable work parties with colleagues who we have disliked the whole year round, but no big Christmas party to deliver us to THE dining table, UNTIL yesterday!

The Calabash Awards 2012, award winning best soca promotion duo, better known as Release D Riddim alongside their compadres, DJ’s, bachannal brothers and talented chef, Luciano Barrows delivered the Christmas party of the year and cake last night at the CC2 Rooms in Vauxhall and this was the anticipated event of the year, delivered in true bachannal fashion with no holds barred.

RED-EYE-CHRISTMAS-EDITION-22-12-2012-383The Vibe: Right, for some unknown and bizarre reason, one was compelled to reach the event on time, since it was after all a Christmas party with early gift giveaways (Who does not like free stuff?). Arriving at 12:30 am it was evident that the night had not started and walking into the tumbleweed strewn dance floor, it became apparent that the early calculated move had been a badly wrong chess move played.

Not to be deterred and unrelented by the already sad proceedings of the night. DJ Hyper Spice, alongside Hardwine of Release D Riddim warmed up the place, whilst Steven Credable kept court in the car park waiting for the guests to arrive.

1:25am….with DJ Tate, Martin Jay and Vinny Ranks of Soca Mafia perched behind the decks and stage, like ants surging on a strewn sweet on the floor, the place started to fill up nice and thus became the culmination of the night. It was vibes, jokes, wotlessness, people fighting and squabbling over dance partners, drinks being thrown back like there was a pending alcohol drought and all sorts you could think off, summing up it was NICE!

The Music: With DJ Tate, Hyper Spice, QT Toohype, Bliss Morgan and DJ Triple M, you knew you were in for a goodnight. With two rooms playing a mix and compilation of new and old soca, it was a fetter’s dream to delve in between rooms and hear the vast library of soca songs that were being played by the DJs. On point, one could not have asked for a better music selection and all songs you could think of on your playlist were played by the DJs.

All-in-all: It was a nite alrite! Red Eye has been the fetter and true bachannalist event to go to and they have not failed to deliver all year round. This was a perfect fetters paradise and the perfect way to end the festive merry go round revelling. A big thanks to Release D Riddim for putting on a good event, for the present that never made it to the tree and the deliciously and well wrapped cake. We look forward to their hot and yet again anticipated, selling fast like hot cakes, New Year’s Eve event, Island Fever.

And on that note Merry Christmas fetters and remember whilst you are consuming vast amounts of food and liquor, moaning at your boring or lack of presents, remember to: FETE MORE STRESS LESS!
