“Go Claudette Go, (pause) Go Claudette”…..

Walk into a crowded room and I can sure bet you a, Eastern Caribbean Dollar, the one individual who will stand out will be Claudette Peters.

Lighting the stage with her fiery red hair and great personality, Claudette Peters is a force to be reckoned with. You know who is running things on stage, when she commands the band and beckons the crowd to be caught up in the phenomena that she is.

She is Antigua’s sweetheart, more aptly known as “Antigua’s Soca Darling” or “Antigua’s Soca Diva” and has truly earned that title. Off stage she emanates a lovely quality about her, emphasized by her maturity as a mother, professional and ambassador. If one was to put it bluntly, “she sweet nuh rass” and she is a woman of noble qualities, to be admired.

Claudette ‘CP’ Peters is Antiguan born with maternal Dominican roots. She is a song writer, versatile vocal artist and a ‘bonafide’ performer. Hailing from a musical family, Claudette started singing gospel in church at the tender age of 9 and continued throughout her school years. Her first shot to recognition, came in 1996, in the form of her winning Miss Teenage Pageant in Antigua’s annual Carnival celebration. She has been part of and performed with groups such as Taxik, Da Bhann, Dread and the Baldhead to name a few. In addition she performed with Machel Montano, the hit Stanford 20/20 cricket tournament song, Come Rise’. Her lists of accomplishments reads as the ‘What is What’….

–          4x Consecutive Party Monarch titles with the anthem All I Know

Without forgetting the endorsements, in 2006 she received the most coveted accomplishment of all. She was honoured with title ‘The Order of Merit of Princely Heritage’ from the Antiguan Government, the highest honour given in recognition of her status.

Most admiringly of all, it is Claudette’s ability to use her talent to give back to her community and country. She is active in giving back and assisting the youth and is often known to leave words of motivation, encouragement and hope.  What do we like about Claudette Peters, her down to earth manner. Despite the fact that she is respected amongst the industry for her talent, artistic abilities, collaborations with well known artistes, recognisable accomplishments, worldwide, well known presence and most importantly her sassiness and sexiness, she is simply a diamond, a woman after our own hearts.

Believe it or not, Claudette’s future sights were set on becoming a fashion designer. We applaud the divine intervention that stepped in and gave us the beauty and talent that is ‘CP’. She succeeded through her personality and her gifted artistic capabilities to put a ‘hold on us’ and the Notting Hill Carnival wants her in 2012.
