De Winery: De Warm Up Review – 7th July 2012

The Notting Hill Carnival t-shirt bacchanalists kick off their first event.

What started as a group of friends going to carnival together has now grown into a mas band.

De Winery are some of the nicest bacchanalists I have ever come across. Everyone is a friend and everyone is welcome to take part in what De Winery have to offer.

What Do De Winery Have To Offer?

  • Unlimited Fun
  • Unstoppable vibes
  • Vast knowledge of soca / calypso
  • One of the largest tshirt mas band at Notting Hill Carnival
  • Plenty bacchanal

If playing mas in a costume isn’t for you, yet you still want to be part of a band De Winery may just be the right fit for you.

The Venue: Curve Bar, London is a little bit out of the way, yet still accessible. It was big enough to cater for the De Winery crew with an adequate sound system.

The Crowd: Were ready to get on bad. Dressed in De Winery branded tshirts with the individual ‘Keep Calm’ slogans printed on them. They looked the part.

The Vibe: Mellow to start but progressed on to ‘wildness’.

The Music: A good selection of current, old and multi-island soca / calypso was played. The DJs weren’t afraid to step out of the usual sets which we hear week in week out.

All-in-all: Just like their mas band grew so will their events. De Winery have something refreshingly genuine to offer the soca scene which is needed. I can’t wait for the next fete.
