Soca Frenzy – Throw Wine Fete Review – Friday 11th May 2012

Carnival come early?

Nope, just another Frenzy Friday, but with Konata, Scrappy and Nadia Batson on stage you’d be forgiven for thinking so.

Venue: Scala, London. With a capacity for 1100+ and a more than capable sound system, you can’t ask for much more.

Vibe: No matter if you’re in the first room, main room or VIP you are guaranteed vibes. A list of London’s top DJ’s graced the decks and got the crowd hype.  Backed by Tropical Storm, Konata & Scrappy took to the stage to add to the excitement and then came Miss Batson.

Nadia came on and destroyed Scala.

Hit after hit had the crowd going from “one island to another island” and asking “how yuh go do me dat?”.

Crowd: Mad hype! From the moment we arrived up until we left the crowd were running on full power. Plenty energy and plenty wukkin up. During her performance, Nadia asked for a male representatives from various islands to join her on stage and give their best wine, and the crowd got to decide on who they thought was best (the losing Trini won in the end).

All in all: A thoroughly entertaining night. It would be safe to say that Shaker HD had a great birthday, and we look forward to having Nadia return to the UK.
