It was Euphoria Mas Band’s turn to launch their costumes for 2015, and they presented ‘Take Flight‘.

For those who have not seen Euphoria mas band on the road or otherwise here’s a little history for you…

They were formed in 2012 by 6 like minded individuals with many years of Carnival experience combined, now evolved to 12 committee members they created a band tailored to their masqueraders. A band created for their party people (hence the party man in their logo).

With a name like Euphoria their ideal is one of creating a euphoric moment for their masqueraders, and giving them a carnival day they cannot forget.

The band presented two mas sections and a fun mas section for the road.

Both sections offer additional options on headpieces and collars which is great when you get to add or deduct. The prices are up on their website. I’m not quoting any prices for allyuh to say ‘Kami said it was…’! So check the website for more info and updates.

Their website is great, you can look at past years, and even some footage of the committee members speaking about the band. It’s a great way to research the band if you are a newbie wanting to play with them this year.

The presentation of the costumes started off a little shaky, I think the introduction of the band could have been more informative. There were some voice overs on the track as the costume was being portrayed that told masqueraders about the options the costume came with which did help. I would loved for the drama of the presentation to come across abit more.

The procession of the costumes lead through the crowd and up on to a raised stage, this was great as it gave everyone a chance to see the costumes in full effect. Their models were great.

The band chose design talent from London this year instead of sourcing their costumes from Trinidad. In my opinion the costumes were on the simplisitc side yet still effective.

I loved the accessories that come with the costumes. The belt and feathered back packs are great additions to the body pieces to make them a little more engaging. I would say if you are planning to play with this band then you should get a feathered accessory, to really bring out the full potential of the costume.

Also as a section Euphoria launched their iconic ‘Party Woman/ Party man’ Fun mas section.

 

With a tie dye print pink and blue top, and turquoise pants the fun mas section is there for people who don’t want to necessarily play a full costume mas but still want their ‘On the road’ experience. The section gives the freedom to alter the pieces given to how you want them to look. This is in replacement of a Tshirt section which I think is great as from a band view they still have people in a ‘costume-esque’ section. So optics-wise this will be beautiful on the road.

The band is a full all-inclusive band serving a fully stocked bar, a champagne breakfast (Yes I was loving that element too!) lunch and snacks on the road, and a goody bag.

With a band like Euphoria that have built so much of a great following in a short time I’m sure this relatively new band will be only get bigger. The band has grown considerably over the years and just looking at the time and dedication put into their band makes it a winner with so many frequent masqueraders.
