Desire and Aspire – Who To Look Out For On The Soca Scene

We Got Our Eyes On You

It seems 2012 has been the year where everyone has decided to ‘up their game’. New companies have formed, new talent has emerged and old talent has displayed some new tricks. All of this is great for the community, the culture and the business side of soca.

A collective who have individually been around for a while have formed a new company and has made some great progress with it so far this year. They are Desire and Aspire.

Desire and Aspire is run by Julia Moscardini, Cat Rock, Kerri Gooding and Louise Jackman. Here is a run down of what they do.

Desire and Aspire coordinates unforgettable events and makes artistes unforgettable.

Events Management

The Events Management section of the company speaks to events which we organise and host directly and solely as well as to events which organise in collaboration with outside companies and clients.

To date, our primary event is the NIFCA UK, which is the National Independence Festival of Cultural Arts held annually. This showcases the talented young men and women of Barbados and also educates the audience and contestants on the historical and cultural background of the island.

Entertainment Management

The Entertainment Management Section is an umbrella for two bodies, Artiste Management and Television Programmes.

Artiste Management

As a management company, we house a number of artistes, inclusive of singers, songwriters, musicians and models. We will pledge our support and commitment as we guide each artiste, catering to their specific artistic needs to facilitate artiste development.

Television

‘Desire’s World’ aims to bridge the cultural gap between the Caribbean and the United Kingdom. The show features entertaining videos, shares information and covers any important Caribbean news to capture the attention of a eclectic audience, including persons of all demographics, ages, race and gender. The show also includes live interviews with popular personalities and hosts competitions, keeping it completely interactive.
