carnival-expo-logo-320Carnival Expo, the first ever event of its kind, will debut at the Kia Oval in London. As the name implies, Carnival Expo will in fact be a trade show embodying all of the components of carnival, but is expected to be more as it will also feature live performances by some of the festival’s biggest entertainers. This promises to be an annual event with varying themes, aimed at expanding its reach yearly.

The expo is being organized by Londoner Andrew Rajpaulsingh, a carnival entrepreneur, whose extensive carnival background assures that it would be a comprehensive event complete with authentic luminaries of the culture. “It is the right time for a Carnival Expo,” says Andrew, “presenting the various aspects of carnival under one umbrella would certainly be an enriching experience.”

The goal of Carnival Expo is to help develop carnival as a worldwide festival for everyone by inspiring, informing and entertaining. Aimed at a diverse audience, the expo is geared towards people of all cultures, races and creeds; those who are carnival enthusiasts as well as persons new to the festival. Andrew, who is Trinidadian by birth, believes that carnival is a gift to the world and asserts that various countries would be represented at the expo.

Carnival Expo’s main exhibit floor will host over 40 exhibitor stalls featuring carnival artists, creative enterprises, vendors and more. Patrons would be treated to the full gamut of the carnival experience as all forms products and services would be on display and/or demonstrated. One could expect to witness or participate in the construction of the quintessential carnival costume, sample the cultural foods and beverages associated with the festival or simply do some networking and much more.

The expo is also keenly interested in education as assorted seminars would play an essential role in informing about the past, present and future of carnival. However, what is carnival without entertainment? The event’s evening agenda would feature a live stage with scheduled performances from musical acts from the Caribbean diaspora, dancers and other cultural artists from the world over.

Carnival Expo is expected to draw over 2000 attendees in what is sure to be an electrifying environment. The event is scheduled for Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th of August 2015, with multiple sessions designed to enable everyone a chance to attend.
