Machel Says ‘Water Flowing’: 30 Day Water Challenge

The ‘H2O’ a cocktail that is ready for the road

The new She Soca Carnival Cocktail is ‘The H2O’ – Soca music and the carnival season multiplied by a variety of fruit and herb infused water equals a cocktail that is not just healthy but it is ready for the road this Notting Hill Carnival season.

Water is essential to our body for a variety of reasons:

  • Assisting with carrying nutrients in the blood
  • Transporting oxygen from the blood to cells
  • Stabilising body temperature
  • Lubricating joints and organs
  • Helping the kidneys to function normally
  • Removing waste products from our bodies
  • Building and repairing the body

For the reasons above and that fact that it aids in weight loss I am launching the 30 day Water Challenge to all She Socaers.

I am challenging you all to create a variety of different types of fruit infused water and drink a minimum of 1 litre of water daily if your female and for males a minimum of 2 litres of water a day for the next 30 days. If you already drink this amount then up your game and aim higher as this drink is fat and calorie free.

Not only will you be creating a new, nutritional habit that you can maintain post carnival you are preparing your body for those times where you want to have an alcoholic or sugary drinks during a fete or out on the road.

Great H2O Cocktail recipes for you to try are:

Lemon Mint Water  – For this light and tasty beverage simply combine some fresh lemon slices with mint leaves to create a great refreshing taste. The citric acid in the lemon stimulates your liver and helps it detox all of the impurities, while the vitamin C helps buff up your immune system.  For added flavour, set your Lemon Mint Water cocktail to steep in the fridge overnight to help awaken your senses in the morning.

Watermelon Rosemary Water – Chop your watermelon into cubes, crush them in a glass and slip in a fresh sprig of rosemary for a fresh fun (and pretty) drink. Rosemary is a great herb, renowned for it’s unique health benefits such as helping to improve skin, hair growth and protect against infection.  Watermelon provides vitamins A (also great for skin), Vitamin C and potassium as well.

Raspberry Lime Water – A handful of raspberries with a twist of lime not only brings colour and intrigue to your water glass. Raspberries contain strong antioxidants like Vitamin C and the twist of fresh lime juice gives you a great weight loss aid along with the natural remedy of the mint, an option worth trying if you want to improve your skin.
